How Is original Medicare different from a Medicare Advantage Plan?

Original Medicare plans cover only hospital insurance, medical insurance, and prescription drugs. But Medicare Advantage plans offer additional benefits such as hearing, vision, and dental coverage. Some even offer OTC drug coverage and allowance for transportation to medical appointments.

Are all Medicare Advantage Plans the same?

Though all policies offer the same coverage level as Part A and Part B, not all Medicare Advantage plans are the same. Many offer supplemental benefits, and those beenfits vary depending on where you live. The policy premiums range from $0 to $300. The deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance terms might also differ from plan to plan. That’s why it’s important to compare plans and choose one that suits your needs.

Who is eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan?

Seniors who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease are all eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.

Who offers Medicare Advantage Plans?

Medicare Advantage plans are provided by private insurance carriers based on the national Medicare guidelines. The 1945 Insurance Group is in partnership with various top insurance providers.

Are Medicare Advantage Plans free?

Free Medicare Advantage plans are Medicare Part C plans that offer a $0 yearly premium, meaning zero-premium Medicare Advantage plans don’t charge a yearly amount for enrollment.

What will happen to my original Medicare plan when I enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan?

You don’t have to worry about losing your Original Medicare coverage when enrolling in Medicare Advantage. In fact, you should have Medicare Parts A and B active prior to enrolling in Medicare Advantage plans. The private insurance company will manage your Medicare benefits. You can switch from Medicare Advantage and return to original Medicare during the Annual Enrollment Period.

How do I choose the right plan?

There are several insurance carriers and Medicare Advantage plans on the market. Choosing one can be confusing, and it’s easy to choose the wrong one if you don’t know the coverage options for each plan. This is where we come in. Our agents talk to you, understand your needs, and recommend plans that are the right fit for you.

Should I continue to pay my Part B premium?

You need to continue paying your Part B premium, unless you are a Medicaid recipient or someone who receives assistance from Social Security or your State. You don’t need to pay a Part B premium if you have a plan that reimburses some or all of the Part B premium payments.
